The Welsh Highland Railway opened its latest section taking the passenger route from Caernarfon to Beddgelert 70 years after the last train took the same journey. The latest 25km section should be the final stage before the line completes the last section to Porthmadog, at least as far as passenger operation is concerned. As ever the BBC were there. Some short video, photos, and also photos from the WHR volunteer site.
The first train consisted of two Beyer-Garratts Nos. 87 and 143, plus the newly built Pullman 2100. The day was not dampened by the weather nor by some idiots vandalising the track.
