Maglev in Germany

We’ll who’d have thought that the German would finally get round to backing their own Maglev system. It was in planning and consultation when we lived there over 3 years ago. Too much yes/no/maybe/don’t want it/etc. Finally they are going to go with something really cool. Other than China I wonder how many other countries will use Transrapid system for anything other than airport connections.

Germany has come up with the funds to launch its first magnetic levitation – or maglev – rail service.

The state of Bavaria is to build the high-speed railway line from Munich city centre to its airport, making it Europe’s first commercial track.
