There were many reports about potentially disastrous consequences for China’s new high-speed rail system. The news appears to center around “fake” building materials that were supplied to the construction companies are part of the concrete sections that hold the tracks. The tracks are supposed to carry trains traveling up to 350 km/h.
The article also mentions the fact that the authorities do not like media carry these stories because it paints a bad picture of China. One can only imagine the negative image that would be given if the track sections collapsed as the train goes past at full speed. Better to get these stories out in the open and do something about that simply cover it up.
