N700 goes into service

It looks like the new Japanese N700 series Shinkansen will start operation on July 1st. The new train sets will operate between Tokyo and Osaka cutting the journey time (and this is the part that makes me smile) by 5 minutes to 145 minutes.

Sooner or later I hope the UK will go mad and develop a system the rival France and Japan. Then again, probably not.
